*Silverspirit Legendary Sire - LLII 8-05-02
*SILVERSPIRIT was imported from Chile by Irv & Bea Kesling in 1995 and came out of US Quarantine shortly before the Keslings had Fred Hartman hold the “Treasures of the Andes Sale” on March 9, 1996. I arrived a day before the sale in bone-chilling weather to evaluate all of the llamas and found the most exotic male I have ever seen. I knew that he had to come to Hinterland for use on the *EL FUERTE daughters. The hammer price was $31,500 and dear and longtime friend Art Kennel, MD was also enamored and begged me to sell him half interest (which I did).
His name was *CHILEAN BEN FUR. On the plane ride home, I decided to change his name to *SILVERSPIRIT - he was silver grey in color and the “Spirit” led me to buy him. Confidence in his potential was proven the following spring by a group of dynamite offspring, mostly female. *SILVERSPIRIT’s prepotence for his phenotype, presence, and style parallels possibly only that of *MACHO CAMACHO (1984) as far as Chilean imports go. Both Iris Christ and Richard Patterson proclaimed him to be the finest Chilean male they had ever seen - quite a statement for both breeders to make! At Hinterland and Kennelllamas, *SILVERSPIRIT crossed well on all bloodlines. *SILVERSPIRIT spent half of each year in MN and OR and was available to outside females for a $5000 fee which carried a live normal cria guarantee. As of 8/02/02 he has 135 registered get: 77-F, 56-M, 2-G. Favorites bred by Hinterland include: SPOT ON (Troy & Gwen Scott), CELESTYNA (Mike & Linda Pierce), HINERANGI (Loyal Nordstrom), WARRIOR SPIRIT (Steve & Donna Clark), QUEENAHEARTS (Tom & Bonnie Riley), CHILEAN SILVERADO RDRL (Ken & Celia Austin), and these at Hinterland: CHIMERA, CANDENCIA, FAVORITA, CHANTELL and HEPCAT.
*SILVERSPIRIT has resided at Hinterland since the repurchase of the Kennel half interest in 2000 when the Kennels dispersed their herd. *SILVERSPIRIT is no longer available to outside females.
